Casting Notice: COME FROM AWAY

The Royal Underground Theatre Company

Poster for The Royal Underground's production of COME FROM AWAY
The Royal Underground’s 2026 production of COME FROM AWAY in Berkeley, CA.

The Royal Underground Theatre Company is casting Come From Away, the Tony Award-winning musical based on the true story when the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland, played host to the world. When 38 planes carrying thousands of people (and more than a few animals) were diverted to Gander on September 11, 2001, the people of Gander welcomed the stranded travelers with open hearts, an open bar, and an open minded sense of hospitality without prejudice. 12 actors, dozens of roles, six chairs… one uplifting story of global community.

This production, directed by Enrico Banson, will incorporate actors/musicians as the band. Actors who play instruments at any level are particularly encouraged to submit, though the ability to play an instrument is not a prerequisite. We are especially interested in seeing actors who play guitar (acoustic or electric), fiddle/violin, mandolin, bodhrán, Irish tin whistle, Irish wood flute, accordion, and adjacent instruments (banjo, piano, percussion, etc.). The final instrumentation of the show will be determined by the cast.
